About Us

MO Family Sports is a youth sports organization located in St. Joseph, MO. Ky Turner founded MO Family Sports during 2020. While looking for a way to get out of the house and keep his kids active, Ky came up with the idea to hold a flag football league. With access to an empty Phil Welch Stadium, our flag football league was born! Ky had no knowledge or experience hosting a sports league, but continued into unknown territory. Due to the success of flag football and community's itch to get out of the house, Ky continued on. Thus, basketball was created. From this point, it was only up.

 

COVID-19 protocols created a few challenges for the new basketball league and tournaments. Nevertheless, they were a huge success! The following spring, the Mini Mustangs T-Ball league was introduced. MO Family Sports proved to be a huge success in the community and a lot to tackle alone. Ky hired his first full-time employee prior to the start of year 4 - the 2023-2024 season. Ky brought on Camdyn "Cam" Rucker, a former Mustangs intern and recent graduate from Northwest Missouri State University. Cam has a bachelors degree in Recreation: Sport Management. Together, the two have looked to stay active in the St. Joseph youth sports community - providing new, fun, and innovative ways to play sports.
